“Common Threads: Layers” Art Show

My crow “Fly Me to the Moon” was selected to be a part of this group exhibit and is currently hanging in the beautiful SMUD Art Gallery in Sacramento.  Show runs through March 2nd.

SMAC anncConceptualized by artist/curator Robert-Jean Ray, this exhibition examines the process of layering, and/or depicting layered imagery, in a variety of mixed-media work, including paintings, drawings and collage, by 19 Sacramento area artists.

The idea of “layers” as a reality in the human narrative is explored; putting on layers to protect or conceal, peeling back layers to reveal what’s on the inside, or pushing through to get to the other side. While some of the artists approach this notion in a conceptual way, others depict a more literal experience.

“Fall Trees” Acrylic Workshop

Fall TreesThe leaves are changing and so is the color palette!

Indian Summer is upon us and the lazy days are almost over.  A beautiful characteristic of the changing of seasons are the fiery colors of fall.  So let’s heat up our color palette!  “Fall Trees” offers an opportunity to rejuvenate your color sense with the familiar hues of autumn.  Take a breather before the holidays and watch the leaves change right before your eyes.

The theme of this acrylic workshop is the painting of abstract fall trees.  The approach is simple and the colors are bold.  We will use a limited palette to create a serene abstract fall landscape.  There will be demonstrations throughout the day with plenty of time to paint and create.

30 minute meal break mid-workshop.
