This is a weekend workshop designed to inspire creativity and playfulness through the use of encaustic! Simple techniques will be covered: drawing with India ink, collage, and basic color mixing using a limited color palette. Students will have the chance to practice on sample boards on Saturday then work towards a final piece on Sunday. Each day will begin at 10am and end at 4pm with a half-hour lunch taken mid-day. Demonstrations of the techniques covered will be given throughout the day along with plenty of work time allowed for each student. This workshop is geared for beginner and intermediate encaustic students, however all levels of experience are welcome. Drawing skills are not necessary for this course and if you already have them I encourage you to leave them at home!
Students must have basic encaustic skills to attend this workshop. This includes knowledge of fusing techniques, studio safety, and proper use of equipment.
