This commercial mural was commissioned by Fixins Soul Kitchen to commemorate their 5 year anniversary. The parameters of this project was “a chicken with an afro and a pic.” As chickens are my favorite animal I immediately knew I’d select a Polish chicken breed, known for their dramatic head floofs. The name is inspired by Louis Jordan’s 1945 jump blues song “Caldonia.” The style is a ghost sign painting technique meant to look weathered and distressed with age.
