A quick lunch gives my piece time to cool so I can really see where my colors are. (After the wax is heated with a torch or heat gun it becomes milky in color and then eventually regains a level of transparency.) The cadmium yellow light is built up in transparent layers, the Sunset Orange is also used in this step to tone down the yellow where needed (you can see this glazing technique employed in the background). Here I am using my small split-shank hake brush compliments of Wax Works West. I am really enjoying the interaction between the Sunset Orange and cadmium yellow light – the colors are just as vibrant as the sun setting over the hills behind my house.
