How often have we painted ourselves into a box? Perhaps we have unwittingly forced ourselves into a single painting style. There have even been times when our professional mindset takes over our imaginative impulses and we’ll think, “Will this sell?” or “Can I market this?” Even though this mentality can keep you focused and disciplined, it can also unwittingly become a sort of tunnel vision that pigeon holes your creative self.
This 3-day workshop is designed to reconnect to an inner creative “impulse” and play with whimsical visual narrative by using a simple color palette, basic drawing tools, and a hint of collage. Each morning will begin with a technique demonstration and discussion; the day will continue with plenty of work time and step-by-step instruction. There will be some photo reference and visual aids provided, however any personal inspiration is welcome. This workshop encourages you to challenge yourself and break through comfort zones by tapping into your own creative potential!

Lunch is typically from 12:00 – 1:00 pm. There are lunch venues as well as a Starbucks within a very short walking distance from the Hoover Theatre. There is a deli/market just down the street that serves soups, sandwiches and salads. The Rosicrucian Museum is right across the street and they have a lovely garden with benches for enjoying your lunch when weather permits! There is a very small refrigerator and microwave in the kitchen that may be available if there are no other groups using the space. Park in the school parking lot along Park Avenue, on the south side of the theatre. You will want to enter the building from the back by the school playground.
There will be a free demo open to the public on Sunday November 5th
